Terms of use

These terms govern your use of redundancytaxcalculator.org (the "site"). By using the site you accept them; if you don't accept them, don't use the site.

1. General information, not advice

The calculator and every article on this site provide general information only, based on published ATO withholding schedules, Fair Work materials and related public sources. Nothing on the site is tax advice, legal advice, financial product advice or a recommendation, and none of it takes your personal circumstances into account. Calculator outputs are estimates of withholding, not your final assessed tax, and can differ from what you ultimately receive or owe. Before acting on a redundancy offer or payment, obtain advice from a registered tax agent, an employment lawyer or a licensed financial adviser. See the disclaimer for more.

2. Accuracy and currency

We take accuracy seriously: figures are sourced from primary publications, each source is dated in the source register, and the calculator is tested against the ATO's own worked examples. Even so, rules change, indexation happens, and errors are possible. We don't warrant that the site is error-free or current at the moment you use it, and you shouldn't treat it as a substitute for the primary sources or professional advice.

3. Using the site

  1. The calculator is for your personal, non-commercial use.
  2. You may quote or link to the site's content with attribution to redundancytaxcalculator.org. You may not republish substantial portions, scrape the site, or present its output as advice to others, whether or not for payment.
  3. You must not attempt to disrupt the site or use it for anything unlawful.

4. Advertising

The site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads are supplied by third parties; we don't choose, endorse or verify advertised products or services, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them. How ad cookies work — and how to opt out — is covered in the privacy policy.

5. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or other right under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, the site is provided "as is"; we exclude all other warranties, and we are not liable for any loss (including loss arising from reliance on a calculator estimate, decisions about accepting or disputing a redundancy, or tax outcomes) arising from your use of the site. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to resupplying the relevant information.

6. Intellectual property

The site's content, design, calculator and code are owned by the site's operator or used under licence. ATO, Fair Work and other government materials referenced remain the property of their respective owners; references to them don't imply any affiliation or endorsement.

7. Changes and governing law

We may update the site and these terms at any time; the "updated" date above reflects the current version. These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Questions? See the contact page.
